Our mission
Introduction
As environmental conditions evolve, new health risks emerge, particularly for vulnerable populations. Our mission is to address the growing impact of climate change on water-related diseases by strengthening prevention, awareness and collaboration across regions. DIDIDI brings together expertise from across Europe and Africa to better understand these challenges, promote effective prevention strategies and support coordinated responses at local and global levels.
Research focus
DIDIDI focuses on understanding and addressing the complex links between climate change, water systems and public health.
- Climate-driven disease dynamics
- Water systems and health risks
- Prevention and community practices
- Data and monitoring approaches
- Cross-sector collaboration
Our solutions
The project translates knowledge into action through collaboration, awareness and tools that support better understanding and management of water-related diseases.
- Integrated climate–health perspective: Addressing the links between environmental change, water systems and disease risks through a holistic approach.
- Knowledge-to-action framework: Transforming research insights into practical prevention strategies adapted to local contexts.
- Stakeholder engagement and co-creation: Involving communities, healthcare professionals and policymakers to ensure relevant and sustainable solutions.
- Data-informed decision support: Supporting the use of data and monitoring approaches to improve risk awareness and response.
- Targeted awareness and dissemination actions: Organising events and communication activities to promote prevention and foster collaboration, including key events in Kenya and Uganda.
Our impact
By connecting knowledge, stakeholders and practical actions, the project supports more resilient communities and more effective public health responses.
- Better understanding of climate-related health risks
- Improved prevention at community level
- Stronger public health responses
- Enhanced collaboration across regions and sectors
- Increased awareness and engagement
